Becoming an

AOS Judge

Members of the Maui Orchid Society may participate in Maui's AOS Judging Program by becoming a judge and bringing plants to judging meetings.

American Orchid Society’s judging system is one of the most highly respected horticultural award systems in the world. At nationwide monthly judging and worldwide sanctioned shows, highly trained AOS judges evaluate and recognize new and superior forms of orchid species, improved forms of orchid hybrids and plants exhibiting superior culture.

MOS members that are interested in having a plant considered for an American Orchid Society Award should bring their plant to the regularly scheduled monthly meetings or to the Supplemental Judging Meetings.

MOS is fortunate to have certified AOS judges at members.  These judges are dedicated volunteers with a sincere, long-term commitment of their personal time to share their passion of orchids.  AOS  judges are not compensated for their services or travel to various judging events.

2020 supplemental judging meeting dates are as follows:

  •  March 3, 2020

  •  June 2, 2020

  • August 4, 2020

  • September 1, 2020

  • November 3, 2020

All meetings are held at the Haliimaile Community Complex beginning at 6:30 pm.  Please contact Maryetta Sciuto at 808-283-5021 if you are bringing a plant to a Supplemental Judging Meeting.
